Ocalan: Kurds should defend themselves against the attacks

NEWSCENTRE (DIHA) – Kurds should defence themselves in the face of any attack, said the imprisoned leader of the PKK Abdullah Ocalan, reported ANF.
According to ANF; Ocalan also made his last call on the Turkish government and said: “This is my last call to the state and the government. We want to live in this country in freedom and we are not seeking secession. The state should accept the rightful demands of the Kurdish people; otherwise the Kurds will use their right to resist.”

In the course of his weekly lawyer visit to Imrali Prison the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan said “Kurds are against nationalistic fascism as well as Islamic nationalistic fascism. What the Kurds demand is a pluralistic democratic constitution under which the rights of all the diversities are guaranteed. We will boycott the referendum so that we can impose the Turkish state to pass a pluralist democratic constitution.”

Here is the ANF news about Ocalan’s statement as follows: Ocalan stated that he was visited by some state officials in prison and the period between 13- 20 September is important. He also stated that there have been similar periods like this since 2001 in which the soldiers were visiting him. Ocalan further said everything will be clear after 20 September and he will step back after this date and the Kurdish people and guerrillas will have to make their decisions on their own.

Ocalan stated that AKP government wants to use the Imams and use their influence over the Kurdish people. He said this tactic was tried before through Hezbollah but now Kurdish people must be aware of the plans.

Ocalan also said that at the Higher Military Council meeting the government and the army made a deal. The army will leave AKP free in the politics and AKP will condone the army’s operations and violence against the Kurds. The new chief of General Staff has already asked for permission for a cross border operation.

Ocalan further stated that the Kurds are still subjected to cultural genocide. He also stated that to resist against it the use of mother tongue is important and it should be extended which will also prevent “brain failure” of the Kurds.

Ocalan reiterated his call for forming a parliament-like Kurdish National Council which will be the mutual decision making body of the Kurds.

Ocalan said executive bodies for the National Council should be formed like the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Kurdish leader proposed a joint military force for self-defence of the Kurdish nation. "Unless security of Kurdish people is guaranteed no one can talk about peace or laying down arms. No problem can bu solved unless Kurds are secure. Kurds are under the threat of genocide" he said.

Ocalan called Kurds to think twice before sending their youths for military service for the countries that shares Kurdistan.
In addition, speaking about the Turkish military operation on September 7 in which nine HPG members lost their lives, head of the Executive Committee of Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan said the operations are perfidy and counterfeit of the ruling party AKP, ANF reported.

According to news published today on ANF’s web-site, Karayilan called on the civil society organisations to stand behind their words. Karayilan also stated that unilateral ceasefire was demanded by the Turkish state and the AKP government and a delegation composed of officials met the imprisoned leader of PKK Abdullah Ocalan and asked for a ceasefire. Karayilan further stated that running military operations despite the ceasefire is a massacre and it shows the dirty tricks of AKP government.

Works for boycott on the rise
Besides Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) the boycotting position is supported among others, by many of the victims of the 12 September 1980 military coup (the Constitution was written by the coup generals two years after the coup), by socialists, feminists, gay, lesbians associations, many intellectuals etc.

The BDP has stated that it has decided to boycott the referendum because "we want to show that we have another alternative and to reveal the will of people who demands a new democratic constitution. We want to bring, all people who are in favour of equality, freedom and change, together under the boycott flag. AKP is suppressing the Kurdish politicians and people's opposition and denies any attempts on peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish Question. We are not ratifying AKP's policies so we won't vote and we will boycott the referendum".
