The mayor of Nusaybin, Ayse Gokkan, stated that the city will become a city conscious of women’s rights and issues for 10 days for the first time in Turkey. The project will end on 28 July.
Women in Nusaybin will have special access to movie theatres, theatre and various work shops like painting, sculpturing, glass making and photography. Academicians, experts, actors, actresses, producers, women and human rights experts, sociologists and more will be the instructors leading these dynamic programs.
Gokkan explains the goals of Women Days in Nusaybin: “All our work will be to build a town geared toward to realities and issues facing women. This is a dream which we can make into a reality. All the work needed has come from local women. The food was even donated by women. Collective work, solidarity, understanding each other, building empathy and creating a supportive environment are some of the most important goals we want to reach.”
