‘KONGRA-GEL warns Turkish government’
NEWSCENTRE (DIHA) –People’s Congress of Kurdistan (Kongra-Gel) organized its 4th interim period assembly in which the representative of organizations and parties from all parts of places where the Kurds live took part, reported ANF.
According to ANF report, the Kongre-Gel warned the Turkish government to give up its pragmatist policies and act responsibly. It is emphasised that Turkish army is preparing a cross border operation after the referendum and the Kurdish forces should prepare themselves for such a Turkish aggression.
Here is the news of ANF about Kongra-Gel’s assembly as follows: The outcomes of the congress which took place between 21 and 25 August 2010 were unveiled in a press release. It is stated that the unilateral ceasefire declared 13 August, democratic autonomy as well recent political developments were on the top of the agenda of the congress.
The congress emphasized that the AKP government which in power since 2002 is performing a fake democracy and peace program. The Congress also blamed the AKP government for wasting all the solution opportunities provided by the Kurdish leader Ocalan and the Kurdish independence movement for the sake of its party benefits and power, rather than trying to develop a genuine and responsible approach to the Kurdish problem.
It is also stated that the AKP government is trying every way to destroy the Kurdish national movement and create coalitions with neighboring countries such as Iran, Iraq and Syria as well as the international powers in order to be able to suppress the Kurdish liberation movement.
Kongra- Gel also stated that the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan has been working for building the peace for 18 years however all his attempts were ignored by the Turkish government. Kongre- Gel also said that ending the ceasefire on 1 June was a necessary and right step as the Turkish government was responding the ceasefire with more military operations in the mountains and political operations within the country.
Kongra-Gel also defined the current ceasefire a great opportunity for the AKP government not to miss and urged the Turkish stated to end its military operations. Kurdish guerrillas are in an active self-defense position and they will response and attack against them, added Kongra-Gel.
Kongra-Gel also reiterated its call on different Kurdish parties to get unified and realize the Kurdish national unity which will empower the Kurdish people in their struggle for their rights.
Delegation from BDP and DTK meets Iraqi President
The committee which come back to Turkey today and composed of representatives from Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and Democratic Society Party (DTK) within the framework of their visit to Kurdistan Federal Region were received by the Iraqi president Jalal Talabani. The committee Co-chairs of DTK Ahmet Turk and Aysel Tugluk, MP’s Bengi Yildiz, Sirri Sakik and BDP representative in Arbil Rusen Mahmutoglu met Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in Suleymaniye yesterday. It is reported that high rank PUK officials Omer fetah, İmad Ehmed, Necmedin Kerim, Qadir Hemecan, Behroz Gelali and Mehmud Haci Salih were also present at the meeting.

Although BDP- DTK delegation was expected to meet KDP vice president Necirvan Barzani in Erbil, the meeting was cancelled due to Necirvan Barzani’s absence in Erbil.
DTP’s work for referendum boycott continues
The works for boycott of referendum continue in all around Turkey particularly in east side of Turkey. Selahattin Demirtaş, Co-Chair of BDP, called the boycott as an honorable work for Kurdish society against ongoing suppressions for 80 years. Demirtaş also alleged that they have faced unbelievable oppression during the boycott works. “This is the practice which can make an end the problem” he said.
On the other hand, Hakkari, Mardin, Siirt, Batman and Urfa BDP Branches organized mass meetings to make propaganda over boycott while intellectuals announced their vote as boycott in Istanbul, such as writers, lawyers, activists, politicians, feminists etc. including Ahmet Tulgar, Ayşe Batumlu, Celal Çimen, Cem Uyanık, Eren Keskin, Hürriyet Şener, Kadir Yalınkılıç, Kiraz Biçici, Leman Yurtsever, Mahmut Sürmeli, Murat Çakır, Sibel Özbudun, Temel Demirer, Teslim Töre, Veysi Altay, Yılmaz Kızılırmak.
Mentioned individuals made a point that this term is the most important time to support Kurdish people and their rights.
Besides all these environments, the Lambda Istanbul also joined boycott campaign. Lambda Istanbul, Turkish lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender organization, says they won't vote in the constitutional referendum on 12 September.
"These constitutional amendments have nothing to do with abolish discrimination against different languages, religions, ethnicities or sexes" Lambda Istanbul statement said.
U2 meets Hanım Tosun, a relative of one of disappeared
One of the most famous group U2 meet Hanım Tosun who is wife of disappeared Fehim Tosun and song for him called "Mothers of the Disappeared". Bono called on 50 thousands audiences to not forget Fehim Tosun after the song. Fehim Tosun had been disappeared during the custody in 1995. His pictured was on the cover of U2’s album released in 1997.
A child heavily injured because of explosion in Van
10 year-old Ö.P. was heavily injured because of explosion when he was pasturing his families herds in Güleçler (Embi)village in Başkale, a district of Van. Ö.P entered emptied gendarmerie station before explosion, according to locals. Injured child has been taken to hospital in Van.
Karayilan: Turkey should take concrete steps to continue the ceasefire
The head of the Executive Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan stated that if the Turkish government and the state do not take necessary steps in order to turn the unilateral ceasefire declared by the KCK into a bilateral one then from 20th September and on the non-action period will end itself, reported ANF.
Karayilan also said that with introducing Democratic Autonomy the Kurdish national liberation movement entered a new phase. “We are ready to negotiate. But if the Turkish side wants to solve the problem through violence, rather than dialog and negotiation and reject out hand for peace we will resist against it and start the democratic Autonomy period.” added Karayilan, according to ANF.
However, Democratic Autonomy is the optimal solution for Turkey, says American sociologist and historical social scientist Immanuel Wallerstein when he was speaking to Ozgur Politika daily, interviewed by Meral Çiçek.
One soldier died in the clash of Turkish army in Dersim
According to the reports coming, military started an operation in the region following the burning down of a transformer of Dinar HES Dam by MKP (Maoist Communist Party) guerrillas. A specialized sergeant died in the clash, which broke out during the operation at around 22.00. The air-assist operation in the region is reported to be continuing.
In the meantime, it has been reported that the rural areas of Filiç Village, which lies between Dersim and Ovacık, have been under bombardment by cobra type aircrafts since last night.
