World to rise up for Kobanê on November 1
DİYARBAKIR (DİHA) - The November 1 has been declared as "World Kobanê Day" upon the call of 130 international intellectuals, authors, politicians and human rights defenders like Prof Noam Chomsky, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Adolfo Perez Esquivel to support the resistance being exhibited against the ISIS gangs. Few days have left for World Kobanê Day on which solidarity actions will be held all over the world.
ISIS launched a major multi-front military campaign against the Kurdish region of Kobanê in West Kurdistan. This is the third ISIS onslaught on Kobanê since March 2014. As the ISIS was unsuccessful on the two previous occasions, they are attacking with larger forces and want to take Kobanê. A statement released by 130 international signatories - including Prof Noam Chomsky -US; Archbishop Desmond Tutu -South Africa; Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 1980-Argentina - for Kobanê. Date for the Global Rally: Sat. 1st Nov, 2pm.
'Global Rally for Kobanê is vital'
The campaign released a statement reading, "The so-called international coalition to fight the ISIS have not fulfilled their real international legal obligations. Some of the countries in the coalition, especially Turkey, are among financial and military supporters of the ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria. Therefore a Global Rally against ISIS – for Kobanê – for Humanity is vital. If the world wants democracy in the Middle East, it should support the Kurdish resistance in Kobanê. Democratic autonomy in Rojava promises a free future for all peoples in Syria. In this regard, the “Rojava Model” – the secular, non-sectarian, democratic position in Rojava is the model which practices unity in diversity."
"It is high time to give the global players the reason to believe otherwise. We encourage people all over the world to show their solidarity with Kobanê. Go to the streets and demonstrate. We urge you to join the Global Rally for Kobanê. Support the Resistance against ISIS – for Kobanê – for Humanity!" noted the statement.
'As youngs, we are with Kobanê resistance'
Some Kurdish youngs in Diyarbakır spoke about World Kobanê Day. One of them named Gülfidan Akgül said: "Just like everybody on the earth, people in Kobanê have right of life. While foreign countries are supporting Kobanê, it's fairly bad that Turkey has provided no aid. At least, a corridor must be opened. Kurdish people and its friends are backing the resistance in Kobanê. As youngs, we are always with Kobanê resistance."
'Gain of Kobanê will of all of us'
Young named Yılmaz Öztemel noted: "Our hearts are beating for Kobanê. Kobanê is a complement of all Kurdistan. It will be never pulled apart from us. A development in Kobanê affects us. We will do our best as people in Kobanê can live a comfort life. Our heart is beating for Kobanê along side the resistance being exhibited for people in Kobanê."
'Kobanê will never fall'
Speaking lastly, Veysel Güneş underlined: "The support to Kobanê is for all the humanity. There is scream of a people there. This scream is affecting also us deeply. All the society must participate into this solidarity. The resistance being given in Kobanê has been seen by both UN and EU. However, the required support has not been given. Kobanê will never fall."
