'Parallel' prosecutors and judges dismissed from profession
ANKARA (DİHA) - Turkey's top judicial body has dismissed four prosecutors and one judge from profession, who had taken part in the country's biggest-ever graft investigations.
The second chamber of the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) decided to dismiss prosecutors Zekeriya Öz, Muammer Akkaş, Celal Kara and Mehmet Yüzgeç, as well as judge Süleyman Karaçöl.
The five figures were dismissed from their profession due to their roles in the corruption investigations launched on Dec. 17, and Dec. 25, 2013, which targeted four former ministers and three of those ministers’ sons.
The HSYK's decision was taken with five votes against two.
