13 villages liberated, 35 gang members killed
NEWS CENTER (DİHA) - A military campaign – Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo – that was initiated by members of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units (YPG/YPJ) on May 6 with the objective of entirely liberating the rural district to the west of Canton Cizîrê, Rojava from terrorist threats, endures successfully on the 27th continuous day.
Continuing to conduct their operations as part of Phase II of the cited campaign, our forces directly target terrorists in southwest of Serêkaniyê town. Last night and this morning in areas to the southwest of Serêkaniyê, YPG/YPJ forces could inflict more blows to Daesh terrorist groups through task operations they conducted. During the past 24 hours the villages of Xiwêlan, Xwêra (two distinct villages), Recim Enwe, Nestel, Tibe, Hewasî, Hacir, the hill Hacir and 5 farmlands were firmly rescued form terrorist elements; terrorists’ possible casualties could not be immediately verified. Search operations are ongoing in the quoted locations.
The resistance of Kobanê that aims to oppose and utterly eliminate the terrorist organization of Daesh (ISIS) near the city of Kobanê, continues on the 260th day. Another military operation – Remembering Martyr Şoreş Amed – underway by members of the YPG/YPJ in East Kobanê continues on the 3rd successive day. Following the fruitful performance of this operation, apart from 11 villages which were liberated earlier, 5 other village were cleansed from terrorists’ occupation on yesterday, June 1; locations are as follows: Ixdê, Meraser, Kepinrepênê (two separate villages) and Mizxane.
According to what has been confirmed, at least 35 ISIS militants were killed – along with 17 terrorists’ corpses, YPG/YPJ forces could seize 13 AK rifles, 4000 AK bullets, 62 AK magazines, 2 PK machine guns, 3000 PK rounds, 3 RPG rocket launchers as well as 6 rockets, 3 shotguns, 17 hand grenades, 6 pieces of 60mm mortar shells, a pair of binoculars, a night-vision and a number of other military equipment of the terrorists.
In the course of attacks carried out on terrorists during the past 24 hours in Kobanê, one of YPG/YPJ fighters who confidently joined the task operation, fought well on the battle grounds and was martyred in action.
